Coach Advisory Council

The Coach Advisory Council representatives make recommendations to USA Archery on the USA Archery instructor and coach certification programs, continuing education, and opportunities and challenges in the coaching community. The Coach Advisory Council will meet quarterly and as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Coach Representatives must be a current USA Archery member in good standing with a current USA Archery Level 2 Instructor Certification or higher.
  • Athlete Representatives must be 18 years of age or older, have a current USA Archery membership in good standing, a current USA Archery Background Screening, and a current U.S. Center for SafeSport Training. It is recommended that Athlete representatives have an interest in coaching.
  • Athlete Representatives must meet the definition of an Eligible Athlete, Eligible Para Athlete or Actively Engaged Athlete as defined in Section 9.4 of the USA Archery Bylaws.

Term Length: 2 YearsMaximum Consecutive Terms: 3 Terms

If an advisory council member serves any number of two-year terms as the Athlete Representative, their maximum term limit will not start over if they are consecutively elected to serve as a Coach Representative. The same will apply to a Coach Representative who moves to a new region. For example, an archer serving one, two-year term as an Athlete Representative, may then serve only two, two-year terms as a Coach Representative.

Elections: 

  • Four Coach Representatives will be elected by current USA Archery Level 2 Instructor, and higher, coaches.

Collegiate Archery Program Advisory Council

The Collegiate Archery Program Advisory Council makes recommendations regarding the Collegiate Archery Program to the USA Archery Staff. Regional Collegiate Advisory Council Representatives (hereafter, ‘Regional Representatives) serve as Regional Coordinators for the program, while the Athlete Collegiate Advisory Council Representatives (hereafter, ‘Athlete Representatives) represent the student athlete population.

The council will be comprised of four Regional Coordinators (East, North, South, West) and two Athlete Representatives (East/South athlete representative and North/West athlete representative).

Minimum Requirements:

  • All Collegiate Advisory Council Members must be 18 years of age or older, have a current USA Archery membership in good standing, a current USA Archery Background Screening, and a current U.S. Center for SafeSport Training
  • Athlete Representatives must meet the definition of an Eligible Athlete, Eligible Para Athlete or Actively Engaged Athlete as defined in Section 9.4 of the USA Archery Bylaws. Candidate is a member of a current Collegiate Archery Program and must be able to serve on the Council for a minimum of two years (meaning they have at least two full school years prior to graduation).
  • Regional Representatives must be affiliated with a current Collegiate Archery Program Club (Club Director, Club Coach or Club Member). Note: Club Coaches are not required to be Club Head Coach, but must be listed as an official coach with the club.

Board of Justice (Judicial Committee)

The Board of Justice is a designated committee of the Board of Directors, which oversees all administrative grievances and right to compete matters filed with USA Archery. They identify individuals who would be fair and impartial and who would have the qualifications and ability to serve on hearing panels. They hear and render a decision, or appoint a panel to hear and render a decision, on grievances and disciplinary matters. The Board of Directors appoints committee members and the Chair.

Ethics Committee

The Ethics Committee is a designated committee of the Board of Directors and administers and oversees the implementation of, and compliance with, the USA Archery Code of Ethics and other ethical issues. Committee members review and investigate matters of ethical impropriety and make recommendations on such matters to the Board. They review and provide guidance on ethical questions presented by the Board, officers, committee and task force members, volunteers, staff and USAA members. The Board of Directors appoints committee members.

JOAD Advisory COUNCIL

JOAD Advisory Council makes recommendations regarding the Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) program and event administration to the USA Archery staff.  Regional Representatives also serve as Regional Coordinators for the program. The Regional Representatives are elected by Club Leaders in the respective regions, while Athlete Representatives are selected by the Athletes’ and Para Athletes’ Advisory Councils.

The Nominating and Governance Committee is a designated committee of the Board of Directors and identifies and evaluates prospective candidates for the Board of Directors and selects individuals to serve on the Board as provided in the Bylaws. When requested by the Board, they recommend individuals to serve on various committees and task forces and consult with the Ethics Committee to inspect all nominations. They develop and recommend to the Board for its consideration an annual self-evaluation process of the Board and its committees and task forces.

JUDGE Advisory Council

The Judge Advisory Council members make recommendations to USA Archery regarding judge related matters.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Judge Representatives must be a current USA Archery member in good standing with a current USA Archery Level 2 Judge Certification or higher.
  • Athlete Representatives must be 18 years of age or older, have a current USA Archery membership in good standing, a current USA Archery Background Screening, and a current U.S. Center for SafeSport Training.

As a Judge Advisory Council Representative, you will be asked to:

  • Advise USA Archery staff on Judge Certification programs
  • Act as a resource to, and communicate with judges within your Region
  • Attend virtual and phone meetings quarterly and as needed
  • Provide suggestions for the judge newsletter
  • Review rule updates and case studies and provide clarification and guidance to USA Archery judges
  • Provide recommendations to USA Archery for rule interpretation submissions to World Archery as needed 

Term Length: 2 Years

Maximum Consecutive Terms: 3 Terms

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Judge Representative: Continental or International Judge with experience judging international events within the last two years.
  • Athlete Representative: Athlete representative should have national or international competition experience and an interest in judging.

Voting: Voting would occur via region through Survey Monkey or another online service, with Regions staggered to improve continuity of functions and performance of the council.

  • North, South, and one Athlete Representative would be selected by nomination and voting at the end of even years starting in 2020.

The Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games legacy created an endowment to support each national governing body in the U.S. Olympic organization.
